Wading in space and tranquility, between In the characteristic Zeeland coastal village of Renesse and Zierikzee, our inspiring and relaxing yoga place “De Schouw” is located. Despite the fact that Zeeland is so close, you really have the feeling of getting away from it all. The cozy and characteristic building is light, spacious and very atmospheric with its beautiful architecture. There are beautiful yoga spaces, an attractive living and dining room and a quiet room in which you can turn all the way in. There is also a separate relaxation area with various saunas, hot water bath, foot bath and massage rooms.
The beautiful garden surrounding the building has a sunny terrace and several cozy corners and an outdoor swimming pool. The grass meadow invites you to spend a lot of time outside, and if possible we will also do the yoga workshops there.
De Schouw has different types of rooms, each matching the characteristic style of the building. The neat rooms have comfortable beds made with fresh linen, and basic but clean bathrooms. The prices of the different rooms can be found under the menu heading rates .
The food is vegetarian, organic and delicious and made by chef Karin (from PuurKokenMetPassie.nl) among others. Our chefs are characterized by creativity, craftsmanship and love for nature. The meals are made from honest, fresh and natural ingredients, 'conscious', fair and appropriate for the weekend.
There is also plenty of room for relaxation and rest outside the program. Enjoy the time for yourself. Perhaps you would like to spoil yourself with a massage treatment provided by our own masseur(s). This ultimate physical relaxation is optional and for a friendly additional cost, for which you can register on the spot.
The beautiful surroundings of Zeeland invite you for a walk in the dunes or in the woods, to go swimming or get a breath of fresh air on the beach, or to cycle on a (loan) bicycle. But of course you can also relax with a book on the couch or chill in the living room or on the terrace.
This is the ideal place for movement, deepening, processing, stillness, encounter and nature. In short, the ideal place for your yoga retreat!
Mark van de LeurMark van de Leur is a yoga teacher who mainly specializes in softer forms of Yoga, specializing in Yoga Nidra. Besides yoga, he also has years of experience with Vipassana meditation and the Wim Hof method. In the south they also call him Mark ice-men.
Mark was born and lives in the south where he enjoys staying. Last year he decided to share what the Burgundian South stands for with the rest of the world. Mark has a warm voice and knows how to set the right setting in no time. Nice and down to earth with a big smile.
Mark understands better than anyone that life sometimes has enormous challenges and that you can literally be completely paralyzed by the tensions, emotions and stress in your body. Yoga and meditation brought a breakthrough in his personal development and now, 20 years later, he has specialized in giving a beautiful atmosphere during his classes. Mark has a nice deep voice that immediately gives you a sense of confidence. Together with beautiful music, he knows how to create the right atmosphere to experience a very deep journey of relaxation and healing at all levels.
Literally translated Yoga Nidra means 'yoga sleep'. With Yoga Nidra you achieve a deep, dreamless 'sleep' in full presence and alertness. So it is not really the intention that you fall asleep, although I do hear someone snoring here and there. Yoga Nidra is ideal for people who have trouble relaxing. But even if you sleep badly, have little energy, experience depressive feelings or even have a burnout, Yoga Nidra is really worth doing.
During a Yoga Nidra class you experience a very deep relaxation, but at the same time you are super alert. I guide you through various visualizations, with which you can give your brain certain suggestions or intentions. Because your conscious part of your brain is temporarily switched off, during Yoga Nidra class your subconscious is receptive to planting a new seed in order to 'program' your brain again.
The physical effects of Yoga Nidra are enormous: stress is reduced, your blood pressure and heart rate drop and you improve your immune system. But Yoga Nidra also has psychological effects that should not be underestimated: it improves your memory, it promotes your creativity and it helps you to increase your self-knowledge.
With these enormous effects you would think that a Yoga Nidra class is very complicated, but nothing could be further from the truth. It is a super relaxing, gentle yoga form that is suitable for everyone and super easy to follow. You lie comfortably on a mat with a pillow, under a warm blanket, and your eyes are covered with a special eye pillow. While relaxing, it helps you to let go of what no longer functions and supports you to lead a strong and healthy life.

Relax package Especially for people who mainly come along to relax and do not follow a full program, for example partners. This only gives you access to the open workshops (before breakfast or after dinner). You can of course extend this to full participation on site.
